IS the Stanley Cup Prepared for Flight? Or will it just Wing it?

The Stanley Cup Play-Offs start Tonight!

I wait all year long to watch the most intense championship game around.

Sadly my Toronto Maple leafs did not make it (Yet Again)

I halve to say though I am excited about this match up. As you have the more experienced Detroit Red Wings versus the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Most will say the Red Wings have the experience over the Penguins, and that with the mixture of a couple of young guys in their line up will help Detroit win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
On the other hand where I sit I believe the younger and less injury riddled Penguins look to be the ones to upset the Dominate Red Wings. I mean they do have some veteran presence and well they were in the Final last year so this is'nt so new to them this time is it?

Nicolas Lidstrom, To play or not to play?

This is a huge impact if he is not prepared physically for final round this may create a weakness on the back end. So this is a huge loss if he can’t play. Even though the Red Wings should come over this from experience, He is still the captain who may not be on the ice. Now Marion Hossa will he be ready for the Penguins who may be looking to show him about the ‘Wrong” decision he made HMMM! We’ll find out huh!
Marion Hossa of the Detroit Red Wings will half to be ready or We’ll see him disappear from this round. I’m a fan of Osgoode and feel he is gonna be the reason they win or lose though. I mean he’s a good goalie but that’s it he just good which sounds like a diss, but he’s never been considered for Team Canada has he?
In all I believe the Red Wings calm and composer mixed with the scoring tenacity of Zetterberg, Datsyuk, if He returns will be the reason’s why The Detroit Red Wings win. But will they have this against a now matured and high scoring Pittsburgh Penguins.

This will be the first time since the Eighties that the same two NHL teams will meet in the final! This is significant because the Pittsburgh Penguins now have an experience to go back and rely on when things get tough. ‘Cause they will’ It is the Stanley Cup Finals after all!
Like the Detroit red Wings the Penguins have three full lines that are threats. Here is when I mention that the two centers on the Pittsburgh Penguins are 1 and 2 respectively in the NHL Play Offs Scoring race. Not to mention they both scored over a hundred points in the NHL regular season this year. Yes they would be Evgeni Malkhin , and the NHL’s face of the league Sidney Crosby. This team has proven this year that they have the tenacity to come from a sub par season and then raise their game to be here at the Stanley Cup Final. I think adding the like of Billy Guerin and having other vets like Sergie Gonchar, and Hal Gill ‘who has really given fits to the other teams offense’ will give the experience needed to the young guns of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Can Detroit stop Malkhin and Crosby with their Defense? Maybe! But not without Lidstrom. Even if Detrouit does this they will half to look out for the Staal line which has shown it can fire pucks in the net during during the NHL Play Offs. And now here is the who I think will drive the Red Wings Crazy. It’s Marc Andre Fleury, I believe this is where he becomes recognized as one of the elite between the pipes of NHL Goaltenders.
So here’s my bold yet correct statement Pittsburgh wins the Stanley Cup in Seven!

I challenge you to prove me wrong.

Debate Goes On! Crosby or Ovechkin?

I mean it's a valid question!
If you had to start a new team would you
rather have Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, Or Sidney Crosby of the
Pittsburgh Penguins. there's no simple answer. Both are 100 point getters, both can score at a whim, and both bring the play of their team up, Both will sell seats, both are interesting on camera.
Although all of the above statements work for these two stars, they are not equal in said categories! Ovechkin without a doubt has been the more prolific scorer (click link for stats). Edge Alex Oveckin
This is not anything against Crosby, but Crosby tends to pass alot more which in turn raises the bar for him on improving the impact on his team mates stats as well, where Ovechkin doesn't have the assists like Crosby!
As for putting bums during the regular season in the seats I believe Ovechkin has the edge as he tends to make the highlights more often with incredible goals. although if Pittsburgh wins tonight that would mean Sidney Crosby has brought his team further in the playoffs then Ovechkin has. Remember Crosby has seen a Stanley Cup Final, where as Ovechkin has yet to bring his team there. So, Longer season = more bums = edge Crosby.
Now who is better in front of the camera? Sidney Crosby is that small town Canadian boy who is very polite when interviewed (which is good), but Alex Ovechkin is way more animated, and can create more of an response when said interview is done. Therefore I would say they are the Ying and Yang of this category and even each other out. As Crosby will never say anything to create bad press for the game, and Ovechkin may do this but, hey bad press is good press right!
My final analysis: I would go with Crosby he's the one who would create a consistent showing into the play offs due to his style of play. Ovechkin is a very close second, but I think his style of play limits his potential longevity to stay healthy therefore hurting his team. AHHH! and I'm a huge Wendel Clark fan so believe me that was hard to say!
It's hard to say because he hits hard and lifts his team up with those hits just like Wendel baby, but Wendel lost games due to this style.

Getting Ready for the TFC game!

Do I have my colours on?
(feels my head for my red hat and scarf)

Check! Yes I do.

Alright so this game is for the Concacaf qualifier, and we beat the Whitecaps. Now it's time to see if we can come back from our loss to the Montreal Impact.

TFC of the MLS is a much stronger team this year and is undefeated in 5 straight matches. Having players like Vitti and De Rosario, and Berrett are a great help with TFC 's all time leading scorer Dany Dichio.
Having all these weapons mixed in with a faster defense and a great goalie with Frei I believe the Impact will have No "Impact" in this tilt
